A Case of Addison´s Disease

Abstract

|
Hormonal and biochemical studies have been presented in 37 year old female patient whose clinical and laboratory finding are suggestive of adrenal insufficiency without other endocrine disorder.
Addison´s diseases was confirmed by ACTH stimulation test.
There was no difference in serum cortisol level urinary 17- OHCS and I7-K S level before and after ACTH infusion--40 unit with 1000ml of normal saline through out 8 111, on each of 2 consecutive days.
On second Hospital day she was diagnosed as adrenal crisis and 100mg of Hydrocortisone was given intravenously followed by a rapid infusion of 5% glucose in saline containing another 100mg of Hydrocortisone.
The response to therapy was dromatic
